Why an Earthquake app

I started developing this app in my spare time after the 7.1 Canterbury earthquake in the early hours of September 4th 2010. This was a relatively close (or so I thought) 30km from where I live in south Christchurch. As the aftershocks continued all around us, we learned distance, depth and magnitude are the important factors in determining the effects. This app was started in an effort to determine these as fast as possible.

After the damaging February 22, 2011 6.3 magnitude earthquake destroyed Christchurch, I pushed on with development and released the app to the public. I have continued developing the app, adding in extra features I found to be useful.
